Nutrition and more...
Food should taste good, but it is also one of the prime elements supporting the body’s fundamental systems that affect: energy, metabolism, muscle repair, sleep, mood and many more aspects of daily life and long-term health. Exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle but with poor nutrition, it is like trying to drive a car up Mount Everest with the hand break on.
Whatever your goal(s) are, there is always a way of optimising your diet to support those goals whilst continuing to enjoy your favourite foods. We believe the two main things one should consider when setting up a workout and diet plan is balance and rate of change.

Balance
This means finding the right level of effort/time/money you put into your new lifestyle change. This level must be sufficient to see progress but not too high that you have difficulty sustaining it long term. At LDN SB we support long-term lifestyle changes over quick fixes and personalisation over rigid diets and meal plans. After all, we are all unique in our genetic configuration and body composition so why the hell should we follow a one size fits all diet?
Rate of change
This is how quickly you change from your current lifestyle to the new lifestyle. This metric is key as rate of change is best kept low as the body often needs more time than we think to adapt. Extreme changes also require a huge amount of mental energy which on the long term is simply not viable. Try making drastic dietary changes whilst taking up an unusually intense exercise programme and see how long you can last... Make small, incremental changes to your diet and routine and it will gradually become second nature. That is the goal: a seamless transition to a healthier you, kind of like tricking the body into adopting new habits without it noticing. It works a treat!
